Gibraltar, an area of UK overseas territory, is all too familiar with political turmoil. With the frontier closed under the Franco government from 1969 to 1982, the community were forced to look inwards and there they truly found who they were. A synthesised myriad of multi-cultural influences owing to its military history, Gibraltar seeks to assert its own identity, that of the Llanitos. An identity which distinguishes it from any other. With Brexit on the horizon, there is hope of a secure future with the link to the UK, despite the people of Gibraltar wishing to remain in the EU.
